ultrafiltration membranes

From suspended solids to stable clarity

“Murky water is turbid; let it settle and it clears. A dusty mirror is dim; clean it and it is bright.” – Liu Yiming

Overview

Total suspended solids (TSS) and turbidity are key indicators of water clarity, with TSS measuring the concentration of particulate matter in water and turbidity indicating the degree to which those particles scatter light, affecting visual clarity.

Pureflow Treatment Technologies

Ultrafiltration (UF)

Ultrafiltration is the primary Pureflow technology for total suspended solids (TSS) and turbidity control. UF membranes provide a robust physical barrier that consistently removes suspended solids, colloidal material, and microorganisms, producing low‑turbidity effluent regardless of raw water variability. Pureflow UF systems utilize advanced inorganic membrane technology engineered for high structural strength, long service life, and resistance to aggressive cleaning protocols. This allows sustained performance under challenging water quality conditions, including high solids loading and frequent turbidity excursions. UF systems are applied as standalone treatment or as pretreatment ahead of advanced disinfection and oxidation processes, where stable low‑turbidity effluent is critical to downstream reliability and performance.

Pressure Vessel Filtration

Pureflow pressure filtration systems provide reliable and effective removal of TSS and turbidity using robust, skid‑mounted pressure vessels filled with granular media such as sand, anthracite, and garnet. As raw water passes through the media bed under pressure, suspended solids are physically captured and retained, producing consistently clarified effluent suitable for downstream treatment or direct use. These systems are designed for municipal and industrial applications, with typical loading rates aligned with industry standards, and can be configured as single or multi-stage filtration processes depending on water quality. Pureflow’s pressure filters are custom engineered to integrate with coagulation and pretreatment processes when required, maximizing solids removal efficiency while maintaining operational simplicity and long-term reliability.
